Tin Lee is a writer and director based in New York. Born in Hong Kong, she relocated to New York in 2016 to further pursue her filmmaking career. She went on to manage several independent movie theaters and help organize and coordinate a variety of Asian and Asian American film festivals in the city.

Her work delves into the fragility of memory, the disorientation of time, and the quiet magic woven into everyday life. The characters in her films are often marginalized, in a continuous state of becoming, yet never fully realized. Through her storytelling, she blends the ordinary with the extraordinary, confronting escapism with profound truth.

Drawing on slow, contemplative pacing and a deep focus on emotional realism, her films often explore intimate relationships and the quiet, transformative moments within them. Her visual style embraces stillness and long takes, allowing the audience to sit with the characters and their complexities. Her narratives tend to blur the lines between reality and fantasy, inviting the viewer into a dreamlike world where the mundane is infused with meaning.

Tin’s latest project, Wait for Me (at The Bottom of The Sea), a queer romance, intertwines fantasy and real-time moments to tell a poignant story of love, loss, and healing. The film was also part of the New York Indie Shorts Awards. Previous works include Horizontal Fall, Delay, and Memory of a Butterfly.

Tin was a co-leader of the Monday chapter of FilmShop, a nonprofit collective of independent filmmakers, and is now an active member. Her films have screened at numerous prestigious film festivals, including OutFest LA, BFI London Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, San Diego Asian Film Festival, Portland Oregon Women's Film Festival, and New York LGBTQ+ Film Festival.
